Review: How independent are judges in Switzerland really?
The annual general meeting of the Friends of the ZDA association took place on September 3, 2025, as usual in glorious weather. The focus was on the presentation by our assistant professor of public law and international law, Lorenz Langer, on the election of judges in Switzerland. This is increasingly coming under criticism, especially with regard to the principles of the rule of law and international standards. This was followed by a panel discussion with Katharina Fontana, editor at NZZ, and Felix Schöbi, former federal judge.
