RF 5: History and theory of democracy
ZDA Research Focus 5 deals with fundamental research on theory and history of democracy. Traditional theoretical models relating to democracy are seriously challenged by ideological and economic globalisation and growing societal individualization. A diachronic and compared history of democracy can heighten our awareness for actual debates around institutional and processual implementation of democratic statehood.
